This case of rhinophyma (with sebaceous gland hyperplasia) can be caused by a miriad of things such as hyperactivity of the oil glands, hormonal imbalance, genetics, acne scars and rosacea. Treatment for this usually requires topical medications, oral medications (based on your dermatologist’s assessment) and laser treatments. Since they are a chronic skin condition (glands are very thick), repeated sessions may be warranted.
